Sunday in Iowa

This Hanging Bridge is located in Columbus Junction, Iowa.
The first bridge was built in 1886, and this one in 1922,
it is about 260 feet long, suspended from steel cables.

  1. I love suspension bridges when I don't have to walk across them, I am such a scaredy cat!

  2. This picture reminds me of some hanging bridges I traversed in Italy many years ago. There, the bridges consisted of ropes and wooden slats placed across them, nodged out to hold onto the ropes. Farmers would be seen carrying their white goats on their shoulders, one by one to cross these bridges in an effort to bring their flock to better grazing pastures. Happy childhood holiday memories.
